Although, this was originally called a
"high frequency amplifier" in the Millen ads it is by all
current standards an HF & VHF amplifier. Primarily
this amplifier was designed to allow operation up through
2 meters, it came offered with plug-in coil assemblies for
20, 15, 10-11, 6 or 2 meters. This amplifier is also
incorporated into the Millen 90810 VHF Transmitter.
A separate power supply is required for this to function.
Provision is made for quick band shift by means of the Millen 48000 series plug-in coils (see article by George W1LSB elsewhere on this site for more on those coils). Fully operational it is rated at 75 watts output without forced air cooling using either the 829B or 3E29 type tube. This 90810 transmitter was discontinued in 1952, however the 90811 amplifier still appeared in their catalogs until the end of the company. Owner: George Maier, W1LSB |
